This morning on The Atlanta Small Business Show we welcome David Moody, President and CEO of C.D. Moody Construction Company, a Black Enterprise BE 100s listed company for several consecutive years.
Mr. Moody is a graduate of both Morehouse College and Howard University. Today, he runs one of Atlanta’s top private companies, responsible for helping build several iconic landmarks.
Established in 1988, C.D. Moody Construction Company (CDM) is an award-winning general contracting and construction management firm. They specialize in aviation, collegiate, commercial, K-12, municipal, nonprofit, and retail facilities, as well as historic renovations. CDM is ranked as one of Atlanta’s Top 25 Commercial Contractors and Top 100 Private Companies by Atlanta Business Chronicle.
Their journey began with a team of only three employees. Their first project was the construction of the concrete foundations package for Underground Atlanta. Namely, the Olympic Stadium, Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Turner Baseball Field, Philips Arena, Coca-Cola, Disney World, Mercedes Benz, Home Depot, and the new Maynard H. Jackson International Concourse.
In this segment Jim and David discuss his background in construction and how he got started, the launch of the company and how it all began, notable projects, funding and support, how the pandemic has impacted the business, forecasts for the industry, and the biggest obstacles David has faced as a business owner.
